There’s a lot one can say about the brain enhancing supplement pramiracetam. I do mention it plenty in various places around this site, and there’s a good reason for that. It is a highly effective substance which is not only well tolerated, but also works exceptionally well when stacked with other nootropics.
Over the years, I have seen some excellent results with it. It’s probably the reason I seem to be always going back for more. If someone asked me to choose my favorite smart drug, I’m not sure I could come up with a definitive answer. But, you can bet good money pramiracetam would be near the top of that list.
What You Need to Know About Pramiracetam
While I already have a big write up about pramiracetam, I thought it would be a good idea to condense some of that information here. Exploring nootropics can get overwhelming quickly, and I always found little bite-sized facts tend to lower the barrier a bit. So, with that said, here is my list of pramiracetam fast facts.
What It Does
Like most other top nootropics, pramiracetam can be used to increase mental awareness, focus and concentration, memory retention and cognition. It provides these benefits by increasing blood flow to and oxygen levels in the brain. The result is better metabolization of glucose, the brain’s primary fuel. More efficient glucose consumption leads to increased alertness and mental energy.
Pramiracetam also has a wide range of antioxidative properties. It helps remove toxins, impurities, and potentially poisonous substances from the brain. When you add all these benefits up, it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular nootropic. Simply put, taking pramiracetam can massively improve your brain power and mental abilities.
How Much to Take
The amount to take varies from person to person and will depend on multiple factors. Besides the desired level of effects, you also need to consider your weight, metabolism and various other medical conditions. Especially noteworthy is any medication you may be taking which may interact with pramiracetam.
With everything taken into account, the daily dosage of pramiracetam usually ranges from 400 milligrams to 1,200 milligrams per day. Start at the lower end of the scale, and build up only if necessary. Some individuals respond very well to just 400 mg, and in those cases, there’s little point going any higher.
Are There Any Side-Effects?
I possibly best explained this when I compared pramiracetam and Noopept. This is a well-tolerated nootropic, and side effects tend not to show up unless taking a hefty dose. And if they do occur, they’re quite mild.
Most frequently encountered adverse effects include a general feeling of nausea and discomfort. Headaches are also quite common. In very extreme cases, users may feel an increase in anxiety and nervousness, as well as abnormal agitation. These are, however, super rare.
If you are taking pramiracetam and experience any ill effects, the recommendation is to lower the dose first. In many cases, this will still allow you to enjoy most of its benefits, but get rid of the side-effects. An alternative is to seek relief by taking a choline supplement.
If problems persist, you should discontinue taking pramiracetam. As rarely as that occurs, it just may not be the right smart drug for your brain chemistry. Fret not, however. There are many alternatives.
Is Pramiracetam Right for You?
Ultimately, this question can only be answered by you (and, of course, your physician). Factors like your lifestyle, brain chemistry, any other medical conditions you may have, and desired effects will all affect the outcome. Personally, pramiracetam has helped me tremendously and got me through many daunting tasks. It’s my hope it can do the same for you.
