There are several good stores where you can buy modafinil online. It’s easy to do and, if you’re looking to save money on your prescription, it also doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. But, before you do pull the trigger, there are a few things you may want to be aware of.
The US, UK, Canada and Australia classify modafinil as a prescription drug. This label means buying it online without a prescription is technically illegal. That said, authorities very rarely pursue anyone for doing it. I’m based out of the US, have bought modafinil many times in the past, and not once have I had any issues.
Modafinil classification and legality are probably quite different in other countries. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of all the international laws which apply to this drug. If you live outside the four countries I have mentioned, you may want to look into things a bit more first.
If you are very concerned or unsure about the legality of modafinil, you can consider a related product called adrafinil. It is a prodrug to modafinil, meaning it needs to be metabolized by your body first. This process makes it slower acting, but once it completes, adrafinil becomes modafinil and gives the same effects. Adrafinil is a prescription free supplement that is 100% legal to buy (though again, I can only speak for the US, UK, Canada and Australia). Other than adrafinil, there are also several other cognitive enhancement drugs which will do the trick.
Online Modafinil Manufacturing
At the moment, any modafinil you buy online is sourced in India and made by one of two companies: HAB Pharma or Sun Pharma. Some people may frown upon this, but these are both giant and reputable pharmaceutical firms, so there are no concerns about quality.
Indian companies are not required to respect any medical patents filed before 1995. Modafinil was patented in 1990, hence India’s ability to produce it. However, with some small exceptions, the modafinil patent expired in 2015, so I imagine we may start seeing a bit more competition in the market soon.
If you’re trying to decide which of Sun Pharma or HAB Pharma is better, it’s six one way and half dozen the other. Both manufacture modafinil to the same pharmaceutical grade standards. Sun has been around longer and is more established, but compared to HAB, they also charge more for their products. I have used modafinil from both, and frankly, was not able to tell any difference.
For reference, Sun Pharma manufactures the products Modalert and Waklert, while the HAB Pharma equivalents are Modvigil and Artvigil.
Where to Buy Modafinil Online?
Since all modafinil products you can purchase online are made by one of the two Indian companies mentioned above, where you buy from is more about the reputation and reliability of the seller and less about the product itself. All online stores ship the same pills from the same two companies.
You want to give your money to a vendor that is reliable and will be there for you when you need them. As I write this, four modafinil stores fit that bill. All get the thumbs up from people on various nootropic communities like Reddit. I had also personally ordered product from three of the four and was completely happy with how things went.
Though it is one of the newer players to the scene, AfinilExpress has seen quick growth and adoption. When ModafinilCat, formerly the biggest vendor of modafinil online, closed its doors in September 2016, AfinilExpress is who they vouched for and recommended as an alternative.
AfinilExpress offers free global shipping with tracking. They accept Visa, Mastercard, and Bitcoin. When you pay with Bitcoin, you receive a 20% discount on your purchase. Returning customers also get a further 10% discount on their orders.
DuckDose is a modafinil vendor with some creative branding. Like AfinilExpress, they offer free global shipping with tracking and a 20% discount on Bitcoin purchases. Returning customers get a one off 15% reduction on their next purchase.
The one strike against DuckDose is that it is not super clear how to contact their customer support. They have an email address I found buried on one of their pages (if you’re looking for it, it’s email@example.com), but not much beyond that. I haven’t had issues with these guys and never needed to get in touch with support, but it is something to consider.
Another good choice, ModaPharma is marginally pricier than the other vendors but does offer the quickest shipping of the bunch. Anywhere in the world takes 6-12 working days and people in some countries, like the UK, can receive their modafinil in as little as 4-7 business days. The product price includes shipping.
ModaPharma has easy to access 24-hour customer support. They accept Visa, Mastercard, and Bitcoin as payment options, and will knock 15% off your bill if you use Bitcoin.
ModUp is the only one of the four vendors I have not used personally. They are trying a more community-centric approach, which includes a pretty active forum with topics on everything from the ordering process to how to get the most out of your modafinil usage. You can ask customer support questions on the forum, but ModUp also provides dedicated support email addresses and even a phone number.
Similar to the other vendors, ModUp accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Bitcoin. They offer a 33% discount for all payments made with the latter.
I was perfectly happy with all three vendors I used, and any would make a fine choice. If I absolutely had to pick one, I would probably go with AfinilExpress. In the long run, the 10% returning customer discount can really add up, especially when you stack it with the 20% Bitcoin price cut.
